Let's Go with Progress File

What is myprogressfile.com?

myprogressfile.com links with other online materials developed for use in colleges, training, employment and in higher education.

It also links with the new DfES materials on the "Let's Go with Progress File" CD for use with Year 6 and Year 7 pupils.

This innovative resource enables the development of skills in self-assessment, target-setting, recording progress and effective personal presentation.

The system includes an Individual Learning Plan, which provides a flexible system for the learner to record and plan their progression.

Everyone who registers will have their own personal, password-protected account, where they can record information about all aspects of personal development.

myprogressfile.com is packed with useful features, including:

  • An individual Learning Plan (ILP), built into the site and accessible at any time.
  • Interactive questionnaires
  • Career Management Tools
  • An action planner, to help with anything from planning revision to keeping track of your social life
  • Video clips of interviews with role models
  • Games

Materials on myprogressfile.com are split into 4 main sections:

  • Making Choices
  • Your Learning
  • Work Related (including Enterprise)
  • Your Career Management

Making Choices
Is particularly aimed at Year 8 and 9 students in school but can be used with any age group in response to any informal learning. Information from the text boxes is transferred onto their Individual Learning Plan (ILP). This can be viewed at any time and changed by editing the original text box. The layout can be changed by exporting the documents into Microsoft Word.

Your Learning
Is particularly aimed at Year 10 students. This section is really useful for setting targets, goals and evidence. An advanced learning styles activity is included. The Action Planner is good for helping young people to set themselves targets, and the Personal Statement in "Your Career Management" is a good tool to demonstrate how far a young person has travelled.

Work Related Learning
Helps students make more informed choices about the type of work and enterprise activities they might consider.  Students can obtain information by clicking on different jobs and the DfES frameworks provide questions and activities than can be used whilst on placement.

The work experience diary provides more opportunity for students to think about key skills being developed not only on placement but also during their review. A Health & Safety page and interactive activities are also included.

The Enterprise section provides resources, activities and case studies to enhance learning and ideas.  The Activity Log records the time spent on Enterprise and Work Related Learning.

Your Career Management
Helps pupils think about all the things they need to do (including an interactive mock interview ) and documents they need for transition, eg CV, Personal Statement . The final section gives guidance on how to print or export relevant documents. You might advise young people about how they can transfer some of the learning from their informal activities into positive experiences that FE providers or employers would be interested in.
